Course Description

This course will equip students with the knowledge of processes and strategies to teach reading and writing at the lower primary level.  Students will learn how language is learnt at home and in school so that they will be able to select teaching strategies that are appropriate for multilingual classrooms.  They will become familiar with the learning outcomes of the Primary English Language syllabus, and methods of monitoring and assessing pupils’ reading and writing.  Students will also learn how to use children’s texts and text books as resources for teaching reading and writing.
