QCE520: Language Teaching Approaches
Course Description
This course introduces learner teachers to
the theory and practice of teaching grammar, oral communication,
reading and writing skills to secondary school students. It is
aimed at providing learner teachers with an integrated view of
language teaching approaches using the English Language (EL) Syllabus
2001 as a point of departure and equipping them with a range of
techniques and skills for developing language proficiency in secondary
school students. The course also explores broader issues including
theoretical perspectives on language teaching and learning, the
use of resources such as IT, textbooks and other materials for
language teaching, and different modes of formative and summative
assessment.
