Course Description

This course will provide an overview of the sounds of English, ensuring participants are completely familiar with the use of the IPA for transcribing English words and also with basic English word stress. The features of the pronunciation found in Singapore English will be discussed, and consideration will be given to which features are most likely to cause problems in comprehension, so teachers will know which areas it is important to concentrate on when teaching pronunciation.
