Course Description

This course aims to equip the teacher with an understanding of current trends in language teaching. Some of the topics that will be explored include the driving forces behind the revision in the EL Syllabuses, the implementation of new initiatives in the curriculum, the quest for a revitalized pedagogy, new directions in and approaches to EL instruction, changing dimensions in language instruction, web-mediated and computer-assisted language learning, creative and critical thinking skills, collaborative and problem-based learning. Participants will be provided with opportunities to interact with peers and the lecturer to better understand the roles of teachers in a changing socio-political landscape.
