Course Description

This course aims at familiarizing participants with research on and approaches to reading, and to have them examine their classroom practices in the light of these approaches. Participants will also be introduced to a variety of strategies to help their pupils develop effective reading comprehension and summary skills. They will consider how to select appropriate strategies/materials/resources and develop tasks for teaching reading skills based on their pupils’ needs, abilities and interests. A range of strategies for assessing reading skills will also be explored.
