The English Language and Literature Academic Group of the National Institute of Education, Singapore focuses on research and teacher education in the areas of English Language, Linguistics and Literature. We pride ourselves on a research culture that embraces diversity and multidisciplinary perspectives, as well as a strong focus on maintaining excellence in our teaching.

 The department has faculty who come from all around the world, with research strengths in areas such as second language acquisition, bilingual education, the study of culture and identity in multilingual contexts, as well as academic and classroom discourse.  The English Language and Literature Academic Group has both academic and pedagogy program commitments, and offers undergraduate and graduate programs as well as teacher certification courses.  Research-oriented qualifications, graduate work is also offered for the Master of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.   

 We invite applicants with a PhD or EdD, preferably with a proven track record in research and teaching at the university level or in schools, to apply for academic positions in the following areas:

·         Early literacy development and instruction

·         Language testing and assessment

·         Pedagogy and instruction of English grammar

In addition, successful candidates will be expected to teach, supervise teaching practice, and develop courses for primary and/or secondary English teachers in the diploma, undergraduate and Master’s programmes. They should maintain a strong research and publication record.

 Appointments may be made at the Associate Professor or Assistant Professor level depending on qualifications and experience.

 We also welcome candidates without a doctoral degree to apply as teaching fellows.
